Newsletter, January 2010
With a new golf season soon coming into view, here are a few notes of interest for you:
You will be happy to know that all of the rain we endured last season has helped improve our drainage system. A number of changes have been implemented on the course to improve drainage and hopefully eliminate water damage. In the hope that future seasons will not be as wet as the previous one, our target for 2010 is to complete the fairway irrigation system.
We are hosting several new events this season: July 29 (Thursday) All Star Communications Player of the Year, Senior Men’s Tournament Weekend of August 21 & 22 New Brunswick Mix (see the NBGA website for more info)
We have had a number of members make requests and/or suggestions regarding Member events. If you have new ideas, changes to existing programs or would like to help organize events, there will be a meeting on Saturday, April 10 at 9:30 am. We are also looking for Ladies to help with our Ladies Night Program as well as our Breast Cancer Fundraiser. If you are unable to attend, you can forward the information to us and it will be brought up at the meeting.

Just a quick note to all of you who have been inquiring about Walter—he is doing great, the operation was a success, he is still not smoking, and looking forward to getting back to work in the spring. Also, we would like to tell you about an upcoming fundraiser for member Sylvio Roy who has been diagnosed with myelopathy; a degenerative spinal cord disease. There will be a fundraising dance and auction at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 200 Halifax Street on February 27th starting at 7:oo pm. Cost of tickets is $10 each. We urge as many members as possible to support a fellow member in need. Contact Ulysse Belliveau at 855-5152 for tickets.
